NORDIC BAKERY!

The interior is simple and plain, like the food. It all feels very sincere, like the employees!

And when you come to think that the Swedes have a true tradition of Fika (coffee break), and the Nordic people in general drink the largest number of coffee you will understand that the coffee served is of that quality that you do want to wait for and sit down quietly and enjoy, not to mention the smell of the now well known cinnamon buns!

The café design is done by Bert Rozeman, with furniture pieces of Alvar Aalto an Ilmari Tapiovaara amongst others.

And then, for some really good news: A cookbook was just published so that you can continue eating these wonderful foods after the Bakery itself has closed its doors for the day.

Best coffee I had in the UK so far (so far as in 6 years!)

MORNING UTOPIA!

And in my utopia, my Monday mornings would look like this; palm trees and a touch of bossa nova. I would even stop drinking coffee..and      have margaritas instead.

TELEKINETIC COFFEE ANYONE?

Customers run screaming as a coffee shop is turned into a telekinetic nightmare in an elaborate 'Carrie'-style supernatural prank. The video, which has received over three million views since it was published on Monday, promotes the upcoming remake of the Stephen King classic, 'Carrie'. The film stars Chloe Grace Moretz as a tortured teen who discovers she has paranormal powers to exact revenge on her high school bullies. Carrie is due to open in UK cinemas on November 29

PAY WITH A KISS!

Romance is back!

Metro St James café in Sydney, Australia has a romantic marketing proposition: For the entire month of June, your coffee is free if you kiss the person you came with.

What kind of kiss? Apparently, air-kissing won’t suffice here. “It has to be a real kiss…a true kiss. I can see if it is a fake kiss. I am kind of a specialist,” one French waiter at the three-month old Metro St James teases a middle-aged couple in the video shown here.

Apparently the food’s not bad, either. According to Time Out Sydney, which gave the Hyde Park bistro a four-star rating, “if you only eat one thing here, make it the chocolate and berry pudding. It’s a sort of French take on bread and butter pudding, made from pressed croissants all bound with chilled crème anglaise.”

They need no introduction. However, Wynton Learson Marsalis (1961) is a trumpeter, composer, teacher, music educator, and Artistic Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City, United States. Marsalis has promoted the appreciation of classical and jazz music often to young audiences. Marsalis has been awarded nine Grammys in both genres, and a jazz recording of his was the first of its kind to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music.

Eric Patrick Clapton, CBE (Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) (1945) is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He is the only three-time inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: once as a solo artist, and separately as a member of the Yardbirds and Cream. Clapton has been referred to as one of the most important and influential guitarists of all time. Clapton ranked second in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" and fourth in Gibson's "Top 50 Guitarists of All Time".

IT'S ICED, BUT HOMEMADE, BABY! ;)

You can stand in line every morning for your $/£/3 (or lots of RON) pick-me-up, or you can take charge and cold-brew an iced coffee better than anything you'd ever get from a barista.
No one seems to understand why iced coffee costs so much more than the regular stuff?!?!
Sure, some theories exist: that it's more labor-intensive, that plastic cups are more expensive than paper ones, bla, bla..

Well, coffee barons, your days of ripping us off are officially over. Making iced coffee from scratch requires less effort than brewing it hot, and if you do it right, you'll produce a smoother, richer, less bitter concoction than anything you'll find in stores. The secret is to steep low and slow:
