STERLING'S GOLD: WIT AND WISDOM OF AN AD MAN!

A collection of gems from the fabulously droll Roger Sterling that will have you reaching for that martini and wilfully falling into the world of 1960s Madison Avenue, the world of the 'mad men'.

When God closes a door, he opens a dress.A" I guess what I'm saying is at some point we've all parked in the wrong garage.A" Can I just fire everyone?A" "When a man gets to a point in his life when his name's on the building, he can get an unnatural sense of entitlement." "It looks like you're all going to engage in a little mid-level camaraderie, so I'll be on my way." "You don't know how to drink. Your whole generation, you drink for the wrong reasons. My generation, we drink because it's good, because it feels better than unbuttoning your collar, because we deserve it. We drink because it's what men do."

Roger Sterling (a fictional character on the AMC TV series Mad Men) founded the Sterling Cooper Draper Price advertising agency. A World War II veteran, Roger has suffered two heart attacks. In the past he's tried to change his hard-living ways, but is now smoking and drinking again.

THE WAY I DRESS: MR NICK WATERHOUSE!

Being a musician, the manner in which Mr Nick Waterhouse dresses is a vital part of his professional identity. And given the specificity of his songs - he plays determinedly retro guitar music inspired by 1960s-era R & B - it's no surprise that his taste in clothes is similarly focused on the classics. In terms of image Mr Waterhouse's videos principally reveal a penchant for horn-rimmed spectacles and neatly combed hair, but in this exclusive film he talks of his love for the classic Oxford shirt, his antipathy for what he calls athletic wear, and the distinction between presentation and preening

STYLE SETTERS: MR ALAIN DELON!

"I like to be loved like I love myself." Don't we all?

Despite our nostalgic idealisation of the 1960s, it was the 1950s that were the true beginning of modernity in fashion and the arts - and nowhere more clearly than in the world of male film heroes. It was a question of "move over Messrs Gregory Peck and Cary Grant in your immaculately tailored perfection; come in the new young Turks to take your rightful place on cinema screens across the globe".

LOUIS VUITTON S/S 2013!

Collarless jackets, pencil skirts and duster coats in three lengths - short, knee and to the calf - couldn't help but evoke the 60s.

"I can't seem to avoid a reference when I design," conceded Jacobs afterwards, "But it wasn't meant to be 60s. The beehive hair probably aided that". As did the shoes - low heeled, as so many have been - and also checked.

60s or not, this is another beautiful collection by Marc Jacobs!

CATCH HIS STYLE, IF YOU CAN!

Frank Abagnale took slick '60s pilot style to new heights in Catch Me If You Can. Cop the look !

Steven Spielberg's 2002 biopic Catch Me If You Can wasn't one of the acclaimed director's masterpieces, but Leonardo DiCaprio sported some unforgettable 1960s style in the film. Based on-real life con man Frank Abagnale Jr., Leo posed as a doctor, lawyer, and Pan Am pilot while forging millions of dollars in check fraud before his nineteenth birthday. Especially appealing are the airline scenes, which serve as an obvious reminder that flying was once synonymous with luxury style. Take some tips from this precocious pilot, and bring a little suave back to your summer travels.
