DIESEL FALL/WINTER 2014!

Nicola Formichetti presented his first collection for Diesel at the Arsenale in Venice. The show and the collection were built upon three of the timeless ‘Diesel Icons’: Leather-Rock ‘n’ Roll, Denim and Military-Utility. These three pillars are intrinsic to Diesel and are a part of the foundations of the brand today. They also structure the proceedings of the event, moving from the multiplicity of black and red leather looks of the first section, to the new innovations and experiments in denim of the second, to the military meets street-style of the third section. Each encompasses a view of the past and a route to the future for Diesel. Capturing the youthful spirit of the brand and its distinct take of ‘Italiano-Americana’, as well as a nod to late nineties London nightlife, it is the global language of ‘alternative style’ that is explored in the show, both inspired by and inspiring for Diesel.

NICOLA REBOOTS DIESEL!

Is Lady G moving to Diesel? Well, we'll see about that. Meanwhile you can refer to Nicola Formichetti
mastermind as DIESEL's new artistic director. Starting with the FW '13 collection, the avant-garde designer and
fashion editor will oversee the brand's main line as well a a project they call 'DieselReboot'.

''Diesel and I are all about the same things,'' Nicola said. ''No rules. It's about being empowered. We're going to 'reboot.'
Hit refresh. That's our first project: we're ripping apart everything to re-build something bigger.''
His goal is to get young people around the world to be part of the process.

Diesel founder Renzo Rosso (in the picture below) said he's found someone as crazy as he is.
''Nicola shares my vision and I find it incredibly inspiring to work with him: two creative planets
are colliding to generate fresh, mad, insane ideas.''

BYE-BYE NICOPANDA!

If Lady Gaga wants to continue her career in runway modeling, she will have to look elsewhere than Mugler. After two years as Mugler‘s creative director, Nicola Formichetti has decided to part ways with the French fashion house. In the statement, Mr. Formichetti said it was a challenge to “re-invigorate the house for a new generation and audience, particularly one that has grown up exploring fashion through the Internet.”

“Nicola has accomplished our original mission of bringing his energy to the brand. With his talent for communication and understanding of modern imagery and design, Nicola has been instrumental in attracting a new audience which is undeniably crucial for the future strategy of the house. He will be a historical part of the Mugler legacy and known as the force that catapulted us forward.” - said Joel Palix, director general of Mugler, in a statement.

WWD reports that the brand will unveil its future plan shortly - one that will build "on its highly successful legacy in fragrance and its new momentum in fashion".
