THE OTHER HEMISPHERE: SWIM SHORTS!

As some of you are already snow-covered, I'm pretty sure this one goes to those of you searching for the perfect waves somewhere in the Indian Ocean or South Pacific at the moment.

To showcase some of our favourite swimming shorts, which are currently available MR PORTER, we headed to the British coast with Mr Jago Peachey. Hailing from London, where he works as an electrician, Mr Peachey, 32, is a keen amateur surfer and was recently signed to Select Model Management, having previously walked in a few street-cast runway shows during London Collections: Men. Surfing and working don't always go hand-in-hand, though. "I was [on a shoot] in Lanzarote recently, where the waves are amazing, but it's quite dangerous because it's over volcanic rock. The photographer didn't let me go, because he was worried I'd ruin my face," he laughs.

Mr Peachey learnt to surf in 2005 in Máncora, Peru, and has devoted as much time as possible to the sport ever since. "For the following five years I went away from December to May, spending my time surfing in Ecuador and Peru," he says. "The surf is amazing in Peru, and it's pretty much their national sport. The [2004] female world champion Sofía Mulánovich is from there." And does he have any tips for budding surfers, besides asking for advice when needed and respecting surf etiquette? "Don't think you're in Point Break and pick up a short board if you're still learning," he chuckles. "To start with you won't be able to stand up on a short board.

ALL-SEASON OUTWEAR!

At this time of year, though, lightweight jackets and coats are best: they'll keep you warm on days when the weather feels more autumnal, but aren't cumbersome to remove and carry if the sun appears. Click through the gallery, below, to see five of our favourite pieces of lightweight outerwear.

NEON ART: MR CHRIS BRACEY!

You might not recognise the face of London-born light artist Mr Chris Bracey, 59, but chances are you will have seen at least one of his neon creations at some point over the last 35 years, whether on the street, the silver screen or adorning the walls of a stylish London gallery or restaurant. A humble aficionado of this now very popular art form (he counts Ms Tracey Emin and Mr Martin Creed as friends in the field), his distinctive pieces of work have been bought by everyone from Mr Jude Law to Lady Gaga. MR PORTER caught up with him in north London to see the invaluable items on show in his unique "junkyard", ask him about his time in the Soho sex industry in the late 1970s, and find out what it was like to be at Mr Stanley Kubrick's beck and call.
