Raised in Kentucky, Mr Brook Klausing developed a love for the great outdoors and an education in the art of its manipulation. His current business, Brook Landscape, creates outdoor garden rooms. He designs gardens for the New York elite and has been featured in The New York Times, Nowness and Monocle. brooklandscape.com 

New York City's Ennis McIntosh is a design, carpentry and shop-fitting firm comprising Mr Sean Ennis, 33, and Mr Angus McIntosh, 27. Both guys are carpenters as well as designers and have worked on projects that include offices for Acne, the Happy Bones coffee shop, Gilligan's bar at the Soho Grand Hotel and Moby Dick's bar and restaurant in Montauk. ennismcintosh.com 

Married couple Mr David Moltz and Ms Kavi Ahuja Moltz, both 33, are behind D.S. & Durga, a Brooklyn-based perfume brand. Durga, in case you're wondering, is a Hindu goddess, and also Mr Moltz's nickname for his wife. Mr Moltz creates the fragrances and the stories that go with them, while Ms Moltz, whose background is in architecture, creates the packaging. dsanddurga.com 

The Brooklyn-based artist Mr Canyon Castator grew up in an artistic household in Colorado before moving to New York. Mr Castator, 23, works in a variety of mediums including tattoos, oils on canvas and digital "painting". canyoncastator.com
