Michael Kors has devoted the month of October to the fight against world hunger by creating a network of global support.
The designer is urging its fans and fashion industry colleagues to show their support on October 16 for World Food Day, a United Nations initiative.
During the whole month of October, Michael Kors customers will also be able to add a $5, $10 or $25 donation to their purchase, which will go directly to the United Nations World Food Programme school meals program.
Kors has already helped supply over 1.5 million meals to hunger-stricken children through the sale of his specially-designed 100 Series watch, which was launched in April 2013 with Halle Berry. For every sale of the watch, 100 meals are delivered to hungry children.
Kors is eager for a social media conversation to ignite dialogue about the solution to poverty and hunger. “Our hope for World Food Day is to get people talking about hunger, and about the many ways they can help address the problem. Donate, volunteer, talk, text, tweet – really, everyone can be an ambassador,” said Kors in a press release.
