DANCING TO ''GET LUCKY'', THE SOUL TRAIN WAY!

Someone had the brilliant idea of playing Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" over footage from the late Don Cornelius's legendary TV show, Soul Train. This is how we should be getting down in 2013—though it may be best to leave those metallic double-breasted suits to professional lapel-wranglers.

Soul Train is an American musical variety show that aired in syndication from 1971 to 2006. In its 35-year history, the show primarily featured performances by R&B, soul, and hip hop artists, although funk, jazz, disco, and gospel artists have also appeared. The series was created by Don Cornelius, who also served as its first host and executive producer.

BEHIND THE BRAND: SLOWEAR!

It should come as little surprise to learn that Slowear hails from Italy, the country that brought us the slow food movement. The clue is in the name: just as slow food was conceived as a reaction to fast-food culture, so Slowear offers an alternative philosophy to fast fashion. As the company's CEO Mr Roberto Compagno puts it: "Whatever is produced within the Slowear umbrella is produced and created to survive trends, and to survive time."

Slowear was founded in 1951 by Mr Roberto Compagno's father, Carlo, and is based in Mira, on the outskirts of Venice. The historic Riviera del Brenta runs through this area, a 16th-century canal lined with old summer houses built by the Venetian aristocracy. Mr Compagno considers this environment, rich with heritage and nature, to be central to the company's values, believing that it provides "a stimulus to be calm, to be slow, and to free the mind to create innovation."

Slowear comprises of four specialist labels, each responsible for a component of the male wardrobe: Incotex for chinos, Zanone for knitwear, Glanshirt for shirts and Montedoro for jackets. The modular nature of the company ensures expertise in each area, while the Slowear name ensures a universal quality and timeless style.

MR PORTER is the brand's official online retailer. They  travelled to Mira to talk to Mr Compagno, and to find out what makes Slowear so unique. Watch the video, below, to find out more.

ONE TO WATCH: MR JAMIE DORNAN!

James "Jamie" Dornan is a Northern Irish actor, model and musician, perhaps best known for playing Sheriff Graham Humbert in the ABC series Once Upon a Time.

'I think photographers and directors realise that my face doesn't quite work without a beard. I'm not happy without one.'

Dornan had been cast alongside Gillian Anderson to star in the  new Northern Irish drama series The Fall. Dornan played Paul Spector, a serial killer terrorising Belfast. The show was screened in May-June 2013. It was recomissioned for a second series halfway through the broadcast of series 1 in May 2013. Dornan has publicly confirmed he will return to the role. Filming begins in January 2014.

THE LOOK: MR FABIAN CANCELLARA!

Mr Fabian Cancellara is a cycling gladiator. Whether he is racing over the cobbles in the one-day spring classics, winning stages in the world's most famous grand tours or riding against the clock in time trials for Olympic medals, his attitude is the same. "Every race is a battle," he tells MR PORTER from the back of the RadioShack-Leopard team coach. "Every race is a war. Every race is a fight. If you don't go into every event with that belief, you will never achieve your goals."

'I only expect from others what I am prepared to give myself. Anyone that doesn't want to achieve what I want, they can join another team.'

Mr Cancellara's approach has won him Paris-Roubaix three times, the Tour of Flanders twice, Olympic gold and silver medals, and he has worn the leader's yellow jersey for a total of 28 days in the Tour de France (the most of any rider who has never won the race itself). On two wheels, the 32-year-old is iron tough, utterly uncompromising and mercilessly relentless. It is an attitude that has earned him the warrior-like moniker Spartacus.

BUDDY GUY 77TH: RHYTHM & BLUES (2013)!

To mark his 77th birthday today, Buddy Guy releases perhaps his finest album. Rhythm & Blues is a two-disc set — one of high-energy R&B, the other of richly textured Chicago-style blues — produced by his longtime collaborator/drummer, Tom Hambridge.

There's no coasting or padding: All but three of the 21 songs are high-quality originals, some autobiographical; the guests, including Kid Rock (on a rollicking cover of Messin' With the Kid), Gary Clark Jr., Keith Urban, members of Aerosmith and Beth Hart (on the stellar What You Gonna Do About Me), more than pull their weight.

"DAMN RIGHT I GOT THE BLUES!" Buddy may be the only one older than Mick Jagger to be able to sing the line, "She's 19-years-old ..." and cause a woman in the audience who sounded 19 to scream in response.

HYDE PARK DIGITAL LIVE ALBUM!

The Rolling Stones have released portions of their last two concerts as a digital-only live album. Hyde Park Live, drawn from the band's gigs in London on 6 and 13 July, is available on iTunes for the next four weeks.

This 19-song collection features highlights from both of the Stones' recent shows, including performances of Start Me Up, Brown Sugar and Paint It Black and the show's guest appearance from Mick Taylor, who features on their rendition of Midnight Rambler and (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction. Even if you already have a live disc by the Stones, only eight of the tracks featured on the digital-only release appeared on their most recent concert album, 2008's Shine a Light.

The album is available exclusively on iTunes through Aug. 19!

CHARLES BRADLEY & THE MENAHAN STREET BAND!

Charles Bradley (born 1948, Gainesville, Florida, United States) is an American funk/soul/R&B singer, signed to the Daptone Records label under the Dunham Records division. His performances and recording style are consistent with Daptone's revivalist approach, celebrating the feel of funk and soul music from the 1960s and 1970s. One review stated that Bradley "echoes the evocative delivery of Otis Redding".

Bradley's songs have frequently been sampled by hip hop artists, such as Jay-Z and Asher Roth. Bradley is also is the subject of a documentary, Soul of America, that premiered at South by Southwest in 2012.

The Menahan Street Band is a Brooklyn, New York-based instrumental band formed in 2007, that plays funk and soul music. The band features musicians from Antibalas, El Michels Affair, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings and the Budos Band. The group was founded by Thomas Brenneck while living in an apartment on Menahan St. in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bushwick. Their debut album, Make the Road by Walking, was released in 2008 on Dunham, a sublabel of Daptone Records.

Various songs from Make the Road by Walking have been sampled by hip hop artists, including the title track, which was sampled by Jay-Z on the track "Roc Boys (And the Winner Is)..." and "The Traitor", which was sampled by Kid Cudi on his debut album Man on the Moon: The End of Day and by 50 Cent on his mixtape War Angel LP.

Oh, and by the way, Charles Bradley started singing 'professionally' last year at 62 years old, and this summer performed at Montreaux festival!

BE LIKE WATER!

“Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves. Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.” ― Bruce Lee

BruceLee.Com presents an intimate look at Bruce Lee's life on the 40th Anniversary of his passing. Recording artist Mozez, formerly of Zero 7 wrote the song heard throughout the video, 'Be Like Water' as a tribute to Bruce Lee's life, philosophy, martial art and influence on the world.

ARMCHAIRS!

You might think that, in design-evolution terms, the armchair has come just about as far as it can go. The fundamentals are there, right? Tell that to designers. The chair is where they can really prove themselves. If they come up with an iconic creation, they can enter the pantheon of design greats.

Think of Mr Charles and Ms Ray Eames' lounger, which held pride of place in Frasier's apartment in the classic sitcom of the same name. (And not as the one that Marty sat on.) Or Mr Mies van der Rohe's Barcelona chair, still a signifier of urbane sophistication and design nous almost 85 years after its debut. The armchair will always remain a challenge that designers want to solve. There is still so much to play with: material, finish, ergonomics. There are new technologies to conjure with, new tools to use, new forms to devise.

MR PORTER's top 10 is a mix of established classics and, because design never rests, a spattering of spanking-new models. The remarkable thing is how radically different each chair is, from Mr Konstantin Grcic's elegant marble composition in three parts to Mr Jean-Marie Massaud's saddlery-inspired perch for the modern power broker. Take a seat.
